Background

Whether in a single-family house or in an office complex, the demand for comfort and versatility in the management of e.g. air-conditioning, lighting and access control systems is growing. At the same time, the efficient use of energy is becoming increasingly important. More convenience and safety coupled with lower energy consumption can however only be achieved by intelligent control and monitoring of all products involved.

KNX is an international building control standard that is used to put the intelligence into buildings. It enables the integration and programming of a range of products from a range of manufacturer using a single software tool. KNX product are all thoroughly tested for compliance, ensuring they operate seamlessly together on a single, simple network. The standard has been eagerly adopted by any international manufacturers who together provide a vast array of KNX – Certified products.

Objective

This course aims to introduce participants to the idea behind a Bus Technology. Through lectures and hands-on exercises supported by ETS Software package, participants will be expose to the criteria and procedures for planning, projecting and commissioning electrical installation using the EIB/KNX system, and to open up new perspectives in the electrical trades.

Outcomes

The personnel who are competent in the programme must be able to interpret wiring specifications and procedures, wiring requirement, carry out wiring activities and testing wiring on KNX system. Upon passing the examination, they will be certified as qualified EIB installer.
